about

There is a man, some call him a creature, who preys on the weaknesses and fears of humans. He sneaks in to your home during the day when you are away and waits. He waits. He waits in the dark corners where children fear to tread and at the end of shadowy corridors where women keep away. His scrawny body covered in milky flesh is draped in soft black robes, his face absent of all emotion and his hair balding to the scalp with wispy long hairs that tickle your face as he breathes into your lungs, deep into your soul, with his icy and mournful breath merely centimetres away from you as you sleep. Some call him a myth. Some call him 'The Sadness'.

lyrics

When you go to bed he will be waiting for you in the corner,
Watching as your eyes start falling to closed,

Oh they call him The Sadness,
His sorrow so deep and hollow,

Standing in the shadows he will come and kneel upon you and perform his artistry of torture in dreams,

Oh they call him The Sadness,
His sorrow so deep and hollow,

Opening your eyes you stare into the darkness of his dead face,
Body paralysed,
His fingers inside.

Oh, they call him The Sadness,
His sorrow so deep and hollow,

Oh, they call him The Sadness,
His sorrow so deep and hollow,

Oh, they call him: 'The Sadness'

about

Jay Stansfield Lancashire

Original, affecting and a tad bonkers, Jay Stansfield has charmed us with his inventive approach to songwriting.

An artist with an eccentric songcraft, wrapped up in a 60s pop sheen.

He has steadily built a bank of great songs and some amazing videos - in his fiercely independent fashion.

Jay is also fronts British postpunk band ALL HAIL HYENA who can be found here on Bandcamp.
