The Note

from LOVISM by Jay Stansfield

/

lyrics

Woke up one morning something had changed,
He could’ve sworn it was pre-arranged,
Something was saying it’s time to run away from home,

Do you know I appreciate you?
Do you know that I recognise you?
Do you know I am grateful to you?
Do you know that I love you?

Packing his rucksack with dirty dreams,
Stacking them up bursting at the seams,
He writes a note to his Mum and Dad,
It reads like this:

“Do you know I appreciate you?
Do you know that I recognise you?
Do you know I am grateful to you?
Do you know that I love you?”

Mum and Dad find their Son in the woods,
Covered in shrubs wearing muddy gloves,
They find the note that he wrote and Mother cries aloud:

“Did you know we appreciate you?
Did you know that we recognised you?
Did you know we were grateful for you?
Did you know that we love you?”

about

Jay Stansfield Lancashire

Original, affecting and a tad bonkers, Jay Stansfield has charmed us with his inventive approach to songwriting.

An artist with an eccentric songcraft, wrapped up in a 60s pop sheen.

He has steadily built a bank of great songs and some amazing videos - in his fiercely independent fashion.

Jay is also fronts British postpunk band ALL HAIL HYENA who can be found here on Bandcamp.
